We are wanting to keep you updated regarding COVID cases in the community. The Manchester Medical Center has been deemed the COVID test location for our area. Today, they have reported, that over the past 72 hours, they have had 42 positive cases and likely 30+ false negative tests (meaning folks may be contagious, but the test doesn’t detect it). This does not indicate what towns or states these people are from. Furthermore, the VT Dept of Health told the Manchester Medical Center that their COVID cases would not be counted in the VT state/county numbers, which is why you are not seeing a change on their website. There are different reasons for that, which are confusing and frustrating. The fact is that this virus is here! It is in our backyard.
We are asking staff to take added precautions to protect themselves and you. For residents, please:
- Do not leave the building unless absolutely necessary.
- Maintain social distancing and do not enter a crowd.
- Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth.
- Wash your hands, wash your hands, and wash them again.
Manchester Medical Center states that this virus is complicated and highly contagious. It needs only one person to acquire it and pass it on to another, which will result in more and more people acquiring it. They advise that we revert back to less socializing, so that we don’t spread this further. Please use caution and stay safe
