The Whiting Works

Please join us at Equinox Village to celebrate this exceptionally talented couple,  Susan and Robert Whiting.  The Gallery Reception will be held Thursday, September 19, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
About Susan:
What moves me to paint a subject? The way light plays with color and the reflective properties of a subject, whether still life or landscape.  If the light isn’t casting a hard enough shadow, or I’m not seeing surrounding color bouncing off elements in a still life setup, then I’m not motivated to put paint to canvas. I want to show the richness in the simplest setting  with the textures and temperature of the colors help to convey that.

About Robert:
My artistic goal in my tromp l’oeil work is to create greater illusions,  reflecting more current themes while paying homage to the old masters. The objective is not only to deceive the viewer but to also entertain them with subtle humor and sometimes glimpses into my life. I will occasionally incorporate my image in a reflection, include family members names carved into woodwork, or animate one of the subjects in the work. Sometimes it’s so subtle that it’s easily missed.

This exhibit will it will be open daily through October 14th, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
