Gloria Palmer has always had a passion for the arts, but six years ago, she discovered watercolors and that became her medium of choice. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, her family moved to Manchester in 1974. She graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in 1981 and attended Mount Holyoke College.
Gloria worked at Factory Point Bank for nine years, and then devoted several years to raising her two daughters in East Dorset, all while dabbling in various forms of art . . . photography, basket weaving, doll making, handmade books, and rug hooking. A class at Southern Vermont Arts Center turned her focus to watercolors, and she has been painting and exhibiting ever since.
As she likes to say, her real job is with Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning, where she has served as executive director since 2008. She is also president of Burr & Burton’s alumni association. Her greatest pride and joy are her two grown daughters. Gloria currently resides in East Rupert, Vermont.
